Check out the left-front wheel. Not sure if it’s an optical illusion, or if there are only 3 lug nuts.

It certainly looks that way.

I think you’re right.
Reduces unsprung weight for better handling and gas mileage maybe? Lol

They will certainly do that when the fire brigade removes the roof trying to rescue the ocupants after a horrific crash...

Obviously they used smart wheels for the front wheels. xD

Knowing CR, there’s no way they’re not running all the lug nuts. These people are obsessive.
They’re on to something. Once I burn up my winters (like 5+ years at my current rate), I plan to go with a set of Nokian all-weather tires for my “winter” set, which will be more comfortable than running winters when it is hot because there’s risk of it getting cold again. Those will allow me to just swap when it just starts falling under 50, then back off only when it is often in the 60s.

I see 3 lug nuts and 2 empty studs. There is a little bit of operational efficiency to be gained by doing that, with a safety risk.
NASCAR allowed that a couple of years ago, but Tony Stewart shamed them back into requiring all lug nuts to be in place.

Definitely, you can see all 5 on the rear, and the bare studs on the front. But that’s ok, they’re just testing it in it’s natural state.

Yup, they’re doing the same thing on the Toyota in the article ’s video too. On ALL 4 wheels.
